US President George W. Bush's spokesman yesterday defended the killing of nearly a million civilians in Iraq on the basis that Saddam Hussein did the same.
"Many have died, and hundreds of thousands died under the previous regime," Tony Snow told reporters at a White House press briefing. "This is a place that has too long been wracked by violence."

So by that token, someone better invade Iraq to liberate them from Bush.

This shows the twisted mentality of the Bush administration, how they can justify killing innocent civilians on the basis that Saddam's regime did the same. Here's an interesting comparison, an estimated 1 million people perished under Saddam Hussein's 25 year dictatorship. While more than a million civilian have been killed and four times as many people have been injured or have fled the country as refugees, since the US occupation started five years ago. Now I'm not an expert, but it seems as the occupation progresses at this rate, the number of innocent civilian deaths will dramatically escalate, essentially diminishing the opposition. This is not a war, but a systematically planned annihilation. This is not liberation, but a misleading invasion. The blood of innocent civilians is on our hands...

Right, so "Tu Quoque" is a logically fallacious defense whereby someone says that their action was OK because the opposing side committed a similar action. This is shown here by Bush's spokesman saying that the US's actions are justifiable because Saddam committed similar actions. Obviously, this isn't going to fly as justification for America's actions in Iraq.

Saying "Ixnay on the whatever" is commonly-used Pig Latin for "Nix on the whatever." The use of the Pig Latin is made appropriate by the use of real Latin three words later.

So, my comment was essentially just saying that this claim by Bush's spokesman is bull@!$%# and unaccpetable.
