Plenty of people come for the most celebrated residents of Reelfoot Lake: the bald eagles that settle in for winter. They come here for the same reason many human visitors do — for the fishing. "It's an excellent place for them to feed," says Jerry Hall, a park ranger at the Visitor Center at the south end of the lake. Hall says a small flock of eagles lives here year-round; during winter about 200 bald eagles stay at Reelfoot Lake until the weather warms up, he says.
Just saw this in our local paper. I hadn't realized we had such a large group of bald eagles.
I went to a place called Squaw Creek Refuge in northern Missouri, one January day and saw at least 200 eagles over the lake and perched in trees. Truly an amazing sight!
It must be--just seeing one amazed me.
I have been to Reelfoot and it is fantastic. Good post, Angel.
I may move there and sell toupees
LOL...?
BALD eagles.
(toupee)
noun: a small hairpiece to cover partial baldness
